…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MDT THURSDAY…
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow…which is in effect until 11 AM
MDT Thursday.
* AFFECTED AREA…The Wasatch and Western Uinta Mountains, the
Wasatch Plateau and Book Cliffs, along with the Central and
Southern Mountains of Utah.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…5 to 10 inches above 8000 feet with
locally higher amounts possible in areas favored by northwest
flow. Locations below 8000 feet can expect 2 to 6 inches of
accumulation.
* TIMING…Developing this evening, then becoming widespread and
locally heavy overnight through Thursday morning.
* SNOW LEVELS…Near 9000 feet this afternoon falling to around
6500 feet Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS…Winter driving conditions can be expected along all
high elevation routes tonight through Thursday morning. Periods
of slush are possible Thursday morning below 8000 feet along
area roads, including Parleys Summit, Daniels Summit and Sardine
Summit, as well as the higher passes along I-15.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that snow accumulations
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads. Use caution while driving.
