Anita DeLelles, owner of the WOOF Center for Active Pets, is a strong woman. I admire strong women, those stand up for their beliefs and accept constructive criticism without resorting to name-calling or threatening to “kick some ass.”
Anita is the owner/operator of The WOOF Center for Active Pets in St. George. Anita didn’t flinch when our dog, Forrest, tried to bite her. Instead she was calm and patient with a Dalmatian that was anything but calm and patient. Our huge rescue dog, Tess, is WOOF Center for Active Pets regular. She is a Neopolitan Mastiff, Saint Bernard, Boxer, Rottweiler mix. Seriously, I’m not making this up. We actually had her DNA tested. Tess ended up at the Ivins Animal Shelter; she was the companion of a former client of mine who passed. She came to us pre-trained, courtesy of The Woof Center for Active Pets. She was clicker-trained and understood basic commands. That is a huge plus for anyone adopting a new pet and is essential for a jumbo dog. She is strong! Anita and her remarkable staff give their time freely to help make Southern Utah a better place for domestic animals. They interact daily with headstrong, hypersensitive people and dogs, calmly and professionally.
Anita was born and raised in Europe and traveled to Brazil to finish high school. That took courage. Then she moved to the United States to attend junior college. She had few American friends. That took more courage. While she was attending college in the U.S., her visa expired, and she moved back to England and lived with her parents. That took a lot of courage! She married her spouse, Ron, in England and moved to the U.S. Anita rescued a cat from the Nevada SPCA and ended up working as a volunteer. She was asked to join the board, and her association with animals increased. That took courage, too, as anyone who works with animals on a daily basis will verify.
Anita’s cat became ill, and the medication it was receiving had side effects. Anita looked for a better option and began exploring the benefits of holistic health for animals. Her horse was already the happy recipient of massage, so Anita devoted three years to train to perform animal acupressure and massage.
After things got rough in Las Vegas and the market took a dive, Anita and Ron decided to move to Southern Utah. Anita was required to become a licensed massage therapist for humans as well. She is multi-talented. The offerings at The WOOF Center for Active Pets just keep getting better.
Fortunately for Tess, Forrest and any dog lucky enough to partake of WOOF Center for Active Pets offerings, there is much to choose from. Flexible training classes benefit both trainers and trainees. Fit ‘n’ Fun Care provides a reprieve for both dogs and their companions. Cold laser and hydro treadmill may be just what your dog needs for improved health and fitness, and who doesn’t love a good massage? Tess and Forrest have developed a snack obsession, and The WOOF Center for Active Pets is just the place to satisfy those cravings. Acu-massage sounds great, and a hydro treadmill sounds soothing. And I’m sure the cold laser can fix my foot. Oh, and Dogfit sounds fun. I think I will sign myself up. Wonder if they’d notice? I can’t wait to play with a peanut ball. Just saying.
What a great article !!
Thank you!
