World Renown Trumpet Player, Etienne Charles, To Be Featured At The St. George Jazz Festival

St. George Jazz Brings World Renown Trumpet Player, Etienne Charles to the 9th Annual St. George Jazz Festival.
Trumpet player extraordinaire Etienne Charles will be the guest artist for the 2025 St George Jazz Festival. Charles will perform in concert with the Rebel Jazz Band on February 8, 2025. He will also present a free clinic to students and music educators at 1:30 PM, the afternoon of the concert. Tickets will be available on the St. George Jazz Festival website.
Trinidad born, Etienne Charles is a performer, composer and storyteller, who is continuously searching for untold stories and sounds with which to tell them. He has several chart-topping albums including Creole Orchestra that spent much of the summer of 2024 at the top of the jazz world.
His lush trumpet sound, varied compositional textures and pulsating percussive grooves enable him to invoke trance, soothing and exciting listeners. His concerts engage, enlighten, educate and enrich audiences.
Friday night, February 7, features a free concert by local jazz musicians at 7:30 PM in the Eccles Concert Hall followed by an open jam session. All musicians are encouraged to participate.
The events are presented with the support of the Washington County RAP Tax, Utah Tech University, St George Arts Commission, and Washington County School District.

Now entering its ninth year, the St. George Jazz Festival brings world class performers to the beautiful red rocks of Southern Utah. These incredible jazz musicians inspire and educate an ever-growing pool of talented young jazz students. Joined by the Rebel Jazz Band, these nationally-acclaimed guest artists show off their skills at what continues to be Southern Utah’s most thrilling concert of each year.
With tremendous performances and clinics by the rising stars and established heroes of the modern jazz world, anyone seeking an immersion in jazz will find immeasurable value in the St. George Jazz Festival. Middle school and high school jazz ensembles participate in a competition adjudicated by some of the finest jazz educators in the state of Utah. The top band of the high school division enjoys the opportunity to share the stage with legendary guest artists such as Eric Marienthal on saxophone (2017), Drew Tucker on vibraphone (2018), Wayne Bergeron on trumpet (2018), Andy Martin on trombone (2019) Chuck Findley on trumpet (2020), Bob Reynolds on saxophone (2020). Virtual guest artists in 2021 were Melissa Aldana on saxophone, Ben Rosenblum on piano, Rudreth Mahanthappa on saxophone, and Glen Marhevka on trumpet.
