Young Artists Shine at Spring 2025 Youth Watercolor Exhibit in St. George

By Elizabeth Gunter

Get ready for a burst of color, creativity, and youthful imagination—right in the heart of downtown St. George.

The Spring 2025 Youth Watercolor Exhibit opens Friday, May 16, at Gallery 35, showcasing the vibrant work of young local artists who recently completed an immersive eight-week watercolor workshop. The exhibit is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, with a special reception and celebration planned for Saturday, May 17.

Hosted by the St. George Children’s Museum and made possible through the generous support of the Dixie Watercolor Society and the Miner Foundation, this youth art club introduced kids to the expressive, unpredictable magic of watercolor. From wide-eyed beginners to returning students, each young artist was guided through the fundamentals of color mixing, brush technique, and composition—all while having fun in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

The result? A diverse collection of charming, whimsical, and often surprisingly sophisticated pieces that reflect each child’s unique voice. Whether it’s landscapes, still life, or abstract expression, these works are a joyful testament to what happens when young minds are given space—and encouragement—to create.

The exhibit and reception are free to the public, making it the perfect cultural stop for families, art lovers, and anyone who wants to be inspired by the next generation of Southern Utah’s creative talent.
