On Sept. 6 at the O.C. Tanner Amphitheater in Springdale, Sage Hills Healing Center, in conjunction with several sponsors, will present “The Zion Matrix with DJ Sharu, An Elevated Experience of Light, Sound, and Soul.” The event will run from 7 to 11 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah.
From 7:30 until 8 p.m., Martin Tyner, CEO and founder of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Southwest Wildlife Foundation, will present a demonstration with several live birds before the concert. Tyner is dedicated to preserving local wildlife—specifically birds and raptors—having rehabilitated thousands of them and released them back into their natural habitat. Based in Cedar City, in addition to rescue and rehabilitation, the Southwest Wildlife Foundation promotes wildlife education in southwestern Utah, providing approximately 100 educational outreach programs, reaching over 30,000 people annually.
At 8:15, the DJ Sharu show will start. Hailing from Nevada City, Calif., DJ Sharu mixes and remixes mantras with dance beats within genres ranging from tropical beats and future hip-hop to bedroom snap and uber sacred. Sharu produces a unique sound experience, synthesizing the crisp dynamics of a DJ turntable with hypnotic spoken word, mantra, and global dance beats. He’s is a favorite for festivals and dance events including Ecstatic Dance in Oakland, N.Y., and Grass Valley and Dance Journey in Berkeley, Calif..
“He knows that music is not just heard by the ears but experienced by the entire body,” said mastering engineer Paul Mahern.
Organic vegetarian food will be available for purchase onsite, provided by Mo’Mamma catering. T-shirts by Rob Ennis Design will also be for sale.
The Zion Matrix with DJ Sharu is produced and offered by Sage Hills Healing Center, OM Ranch, Nama-Stay, Zion Guru, the Southwest Wildlife Foundation, Syinthesis Sound Healing Center, Vertical Art Dance, and Rob Ennis Design. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 online.
