The Independent

The Bureau of Land Management’s Cedar City Field Office is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment analyzing a proposal to create a sustainable recreational trail network that spans the Hurricane Cliffs from Paragonah to Shurtz Canyon, a few miles south of Cedar City.

The assessment evaluates the proposal and any potential impacts associated with development of the trail network. The proposal, developed through collaboration with federal and local partners, including the Cedar City Trails Committee, would connect the city’s master trail plan with lands administered by the BLM.

Additional information about the proposed action is included in the EA, which is available for public review and comment until April 30. Find an online copy here.

Comments will be accepted by letter or email until April 30. Please note that the most useful comments should contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposal and should be as specific as possible.  Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM’s decision-making process. Please reference “Cedar City Recreation Trails” when submitting comments.
