CCCMT to hold auditions for Aladdin, Jr. April 27

The Independent

On April 27 and 28 from 4:30 to 8 p.m., the Cedar City Children’s Summer Musical Theatre (CCCMT) will be holding auditions at 1579 North Main, Suite #109, in Cedar City for their presentation of Aladdin, Jr. The musical will be performed Aug. 27 through 31 at the Heritage Theater at 7 p.m.

Audition slots are 15 minutes long, and siblings may audition simultaneously. Callbacks will be held April 29 and 30 as needed. Children ages 6 through 19 are encouraged to audition; however, young children must be enrolled in kindergarten. Auditioners must prepare one song and one speaking line. Judges will base their decision upon the auditioner’s personality, volume, and musical ability. Practice recordings, lyrics, and speaking lines are available through the CCCMT website.

Children who would like to participate but do not wish to have a speaking or singing role must register but are not required to audition. The registration deadline is June 12.  There is a non-refundable fee of $75 to participate in the musical, and a sibling discount is offered. The fee for each additional child is $50. Scholarships are available. Participation fees are used to pay for building, maintenance, rental fees, royalties, costumes, scenery, props, music equipment, theater rental fees, etc. Depending on each particular role, there may be an additional costume fee of no more than $25.

The CCCMT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer group of  parents and grandparents striving to provide a musical theater experience for local children, regardless of their prior experience or ability to pay. CCCMT seeks  to nurture a love of performing in children of all ages.  Participants are challenged to excel in singing, dancing, and theatrical performance. CCCMT believes that all children should have the opportunity to shine, because talent is only developed when children are given the opportunity. CCCMT’s goal is to help students develop self-confidence, pride in a job well done, and self-discipline—all while having fun!
