The Cedar City Library in the Park opened its national traveling exhibition, “Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human?” on Oct. 16 with a pre-public tour for more than 100 invited guests, including representatives from local governments, schools and faiths.

The exhibit was organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in collaboration with the American Library Association and made possible through the support of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation and support from the Peter Buck Human Origins Fund. It will run through Nov. 12 and is free and open to the public during library hours.

Lauren McAfee, assistant librarian and development and grant officer at Cedar City Library, was primarily responsible for securing the grant for the exhibit. She said the event would not have been possible without the help of her consultation committee and was pleased with the turnout and the positive feedback from the exhibit.
