David Jorgensen will perform a special concert — just classical guitar and violin — the latter courtesy of Ukranian violin prodigy and star of the “I am Dixie” campaign Olga Ivanenko. The concert will take place Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at Kayenta.

“Olga and I will be performing some of your Christmas favorites along with some wonderful classical guitar Violin duets,” Jorgensen said. “You will not want to miss this beautiful program!”

David Jorgensen picked up the guitar at age 13 and instantly fell in love with the clean finger-style, strumming, and poetic lyricism of James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and Joni Mitchell. He began studying classical guitar after hearing a Christopher Parkening record and has spent the last 40 years perfecting his sound and technique. Music is his passion. In recent years, Jorgensen has worked tirelessly to produce a concert series in which he performs tribute shows to James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and The Beatles as well as a very popular Christmas show. He also performs his original jazz music with vocalist Laura Lounsbury. Jorgensen resides in St. George and enjoys riding his bicycles and hiking the majestic terrain of southwest Utah when he is not attending music festivals, performing, and composing. Jorgensen will also auction off a private house concert at Art Around the World Jan. 24.

Olga Ivanenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. She started learning violin when she was 8 years old. It became a big part of her life. She went to the music college in Kyiv, and by the age of 17 she graduated with a young specialist degree in music. After graduating college, Ivanenko was able to get in into the orchestra in Poland that had been coached by London Symphony Orchestra principals. She studied with different professors from European and Slavic schools. Later on, she moved to the U.S. and began studying at DSU. She was chosen to be one of the participants for the I Am Dixie campaign. Ivanenko was given a full music scholarship, and in 2018 she won the Entertainer of the Year award from DSU. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music in 2018, Ivanenko was invited to work at the Tuacahn Center of Arts, which gave her experience working with musicians and actors from New York. Currently, Ivanenko has been living in Los Angeles where she has been pursuing her performing career.

Tickets are $30 or $10 for children and students and can be purchased here.
