The DOCUTAH International Documentary Film Festival recently announced the winners of the 2017 Raven Awards. This year’s festival offered 65 films from 20 countries. Film awards were presented in 11 categories:
—Best Feature: “Where the Wind Blew,” produced and directed by André Singer.
—Best Short: “Remand,” directed by Craig Detweiler.
—Audience Favorite Feature: TBA.
—Audience Favorite Short: TBA.
—Best Foreign Film: “I’m Free,” directed by Edvard Karijord, Bendik Mondal.
—Emerging Artist: “1-800-Give-Us-Your-Kidney,” produced and directed by Samantha Smith and “One Way Home,” produced and directed by Qingzi Fan.
—Humanitarian: “Little Stones,” directed by Sophia Kruz.
—Artistic Inspiration Award: “Heaven Is a Traffic Jam on the 405,” produced and directed by Frank Stiefel.
—President’s Award: “Expedition Alaska,” directed by Brian J. Leitten.
—Dean’s Award: “Anatomy of a Male Ballet Dancer,” produced and directed by David Barba and James Pellerito.
—Mayor’s Award: “Forever B,” directed by Skye Borgman.
