Letter to the editor: Meyers welcomes Romney to the race — Let’s not restock the swamp

By Larry Meyers

Unlike Massachusetts Mitt Romney, I’m from Utah, I support President Trump, and I am a conservative Republican.

My wife, Marlee, and I met at Brigham Young University, where I earned my Political Science and Law degrees. We raised our three sons in St. George, where I have served the community formerly as a prosecuting attorney and currently in private legal practice and in local government. We love this great State and it has been our home for over 25 years.

I wake up every day happy that Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton, is our President. While others tried to destroy Trump, I campaigned for him and voted for him. I support the President’s conservative agenda for making America great again: America First, a strong national defense, secure borders, conservative judges, tax cuts, deregulation, energy independence, repealing Obamacare (which was based on RomneyCare), ending TPP and the Paris Accords, and so much more. I will work with the President to continue to drain the DC swamp.

Utah needs a conservative Republican in the Senate. I only support limited, Constitutional government. We need to cut the federal government, including funding for Planned Parenthood and Common Core, and bring power (and our public lands) back to the States and the people. I have always been pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and have opposed socialized medicine and the global warming agenda. Unlike some candidates, my views don’t change based on the race I am running — I will always be true to the Constitution and traditional conservative principles.
