Letter to the Editor: St. George’s ‘Footloose’ attitude has to go

Thank you for your article on the recent kerfuffle at Fiesta Fun. As a recent transplant from Portland, Oregon, I am disturbed by St George’s attitude toward dancing.

I recognize I’m still adjusting to living in a city (more appropriately an entire state) so heavily influenced by religion that normal life pleasures are frowned upon, but it just seems so extreme. Not to mention what a sad waste of such a beautiful natural outdoor backdrop— I can only imagine how incredible St George would be as a place to enjoy music and dancing outdoors!

I hear from many people that it’s actually gotten much better here.  It’s refreshing to hear words from people of a similar mindset.  Thank you for what you contribute to making St George a more cultural, artistic, open-minded city.
