George’s Corner Restaurant in downtown St. George announced its musical lineup for January. Wednesday shows run from 7 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday shows run from 8 to 11 p.m. January’s lineup includes the return of the regular “Jazz on The Corner” series on the third Saturday of the month and “Funky Friday” featuring Soul What!?

Additionally, George’s will feature Greg Blake on Jan. 6 as part of their “Touring Artist” series. George’s Corner music promoter Gordon Strang said that the Touring Artist series is something of a departure from George’s mission to normally have a local influence and keep George’s music geared toward local artists, but he feels that it makes a nice addition to the lineup.

“About every six or eight weeks, I’ll book somebody coming through on the road that is a unique talent,” Strang said. “Greg Blake is an extremely good name in the bluegrass field.”

On Friday, Jan. 1, Harry O plays. Currently the guitarist for Oysters Rockefeller, this New York native has played with Eddie Snow, The Bel Aires, Johnny Marshall, and Sonny Rhodes. He performs as a soloist as well as with local bands, working at clubs, wineries, coffee houses, and assisted living facilities from Las Vegas to the central coast of California. Johnny Van and Gary Huff will play the following night.

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, native West Virginian bluegrass musician Greg Blake will play. On Friday, Jan. 8, Gunlock County will play, and Dulcie will play the following night.

Jerry Allen will play contemporary rock on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Enjoy funk, rhythm and blues, and soul on Funky Friday with Soul What!? on Jan. 15, and George’s “Jazz on The Corner” happens on Saturday, Jan. 16, with the West Coast Jazz Players.

Lisa Mac will play on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Friday, Jan. 22, Jeff Orr, frontman for The Signals and Grateful Dead tribute band Catfish John Revival Band, will play.

Devon Archer will play alternative rock on Wednesday, Jan. 27, followed by Whiskey Tooth Revival Friday, Jan. 29, and folk musician Brandon Anderson Saturday, Jan. 30.
