New Year's Day George StreetfestOn Friday, Jan. 1, George Streetfest on Main presents a New Year’s Day masquerade from 5 to 10 p.m. as part of southern Utah’s favorite first Friday event. Additionally, George Streetfest has incorporated a few changes and additions to keep attendees warm.

Leading out the evening at 5 p.m., the main stage presents DJ Lex and his Amazing Steam Powered Music Machine followed by the Dixie Funk Band of St. George at 6 p.m., RKDN of Provo at 7 p.m., and headliner GoldBoot of Las Vegas at 8 p.m.

New Year's Day George Streetfest“Town Birthday at the Tabernacle,” a live performance suitable for all ages, will feature favorite characters from town history presenting biographical vignettes and select musical numbers in the warmth of the historic tabernacle from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This first-of-its-kind performance celebrates the Jan. 17, 1862 incorporation of St. George City with a culmination of local tales and tributes to community founders. Come-and-go attendance is welcome.

Zion Brewing Company’s Jazz Garden moves indoors this month to the Ancestor Square Tower. The venue will offer New Orleans jazz as Rebecca Burt of Las Vegas adds some accordion flare to house band West Coast Jazz from 6 to 8 p.m. Nick Adams and Sean Taylor bring in acoustic classic rock and blues to the Jazz Garden from 8 to 10 p.m.

All ages are welcome at the Jazz Garden with a designated level for adults 21 and over featuring service of champagne, Zion Canyon Brewing Company beers, and selections from the St. George Wine Club. Tapas service this month is by Painted Pony with specialty sodas by Springdale’s Café Soleil. Jazz Garden attendees dressed to the masquerade theme will qualify for entry to win prizes and gift certificates to Historic Downtown Restaurants.

Additional efforts to keep crowds warm include placement of fire barrels on Main Street by the St. George City Fire Dept. and a free enclosed and heated photo booth near the main stage.

New Year's Day George StreetfestGeorge Streetfest on Main is a nightlife event designed to celebrate the best of southern Utah. On the first Friday of every month from 6 to 10 p.m., participants enjoy a free street concert, buskers, goods sold by local artists, farmers market, the Robert J. Debry Food Truck Village, and the Zion Brewing Company Jazz Garden featuring live jazz, rock, and blues artists.

With recently renewed support and sponsorship of St. George City and the St. George Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Streetfest has received the nod to continue every first Friday in 2016. This nightlife event in southern Utah is designed to offer something for everyone.
