Approximately 350 people gathered yesterday in Kanab for a rally in support of Bear Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments during Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke’s visit.

Local business owners, including Brandy Hardman of Mountain Guest Ranch and Nathan Wagoner of Escalante Canyon Outfitters, were present to represent businesses’ interests and opinions. Among the points made by local business owners was that there are plenty of jobs to be had in the tourism industry.

At the time of press, no maps have been produced of new proposed boundaries of Grand Staircase-Escalante or Bears Ears National Monuments.
