Seventeen years…holy cow. Another year gone by and here I am still publishing this here paper. Every year has its trials and rewards, but it seems like this past one was especially eventful – peaks and valleys, personal accomplishments and heartache. It was a booming year last year with what seems like an all-time high of events produced for the area.

March is not only a five-week publishing month for us but it’s also one of the nicest months around these parts, in my humble opinion. Based solely on the size of our calendar of events (the last 10 pages), it seems a number of event producers agree with me. Take some time to thumb through the many events listed in the calendar pages, or if you are reading at suindependent.com, you’ll want to click on the little calendar on our homepage. Each event is individually posted, similar to the paper. Our print edition also features events that reoccur on multiple days, grouped nicely together at the beginning of the calendar, followed by events grouped by the day of week they occur, then events listed for individual dates. So read in that order – it’s a very good use of our print space and your time!

We have gone ahead and expanded the paper back to this nice, fat size, which allows us to include considerably more content. In addition to larger and more features in each section, we’ve also added back in an expanded version of a section we produced last year – our Zion/Springdale Visitor’s Guide. This new and expanded version is a comprehensive “insider’s guide” with an overview of the nightlife (including updated liquor law notes), a list of services available in Zion Canyon, and a “What’s New in the Canyon” feature that will change each month. This is all in addition to what we did last year – the large map with many Springdale businesses and Zion/Springdale event information.

Hope to see you all out enjoying this nice weather, and happy reading!
