The SUU Wind Symphony will perform April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater. This concert will feature entertaining pieces including “Hymn for the Lost and the Living,” “Star Wars,” and “Instinctive Travels.” Tom Lewis will be the guest conductor for “Let Us Break Bread Together.”

“This is among the most exciting-sounding wind ensembles to come out of SUU,” said Dr. Adam Lambert, director of the Wind Symphony. “This group plays with amazing energy along with impressive beauty. We will be performing on the heels of our recent tour to Las Vegas and Northern Arizona. We will also be hosting a special guest conductor for one piece, Mr. Tom Lewis, grandfather of one of our students and former band director. This will be a special night.”

“One of the most rewarding things about preparing for this concert is working hard on a difficult part of a song and having it come out perfectly — or as close to perfect as we can get it,” said Mallory Barlow, a junior flute performance major from Kaysville. “Especially when it’s something that we as a section or a band have struggled with in rehearsals, but we can finally nail it; that is satisfying to know that your hard work has paid off. Music is such a powerful force that can touch and connect with a person in ways that words can’t. I love that music has the ability to bring people together to share in a common interest. Our concert is a perfect opportunity for the community to come and do just that. I love what we are working on and I want to share that with everyone.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. SUU faculty, staff, and students are admitted free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at suu.edu/pva.
