By Aloree Smith
The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Allan Litman, and a color guard will welcome the Women’s History and Culture Center with a ribbon cutting Oct. 11 from 5:15 to 7 p.m. at 175 N. Willow St., No. 23, in Mesquite.
The mission of the Women’s History and Culture Center is to share information on women’s achievement and multicultural issues that will help improve the quality of life of women and men in the greater Mesquite area.
The center will house biographies on Nevada women pioneers and a military corner dedicated to warrior women from ancient to modern times. A separate area called “Girl Power” will provide inspirational role models for youth and stories of famous women growing up.
In addition, the center has a reception area for cooking demonstrations, informal teas, book club meetings, various classes, seminars, and networking.
Mesquite and surrounding area residents are encouraged to attend this event. Everyone is welcome. For further information, please call the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce at (702) 346-2902.
