Drummer Shawn Owens, of The Shawn Owens Project, will perform March 15 in St. George as part of Jazz Night, sponsored by ART Provides.

On March 15 from 5-7 PM, ART Provides Gallery & Studio will present a Jazz Night pop-up event at Atkin Studios, 437 N. Main St. in St. George. The event will feature music performed by The Shawn Owens Project. Admission is free. Tips are welcomed.

The Shawn Owens Project is a jazz group featuring the musical stylings of pianist Christian Bohnenstengel and drummer Shawn Owens. While the group is a two-piece duo, their sound mimics a three-piece band thanks to the unique talent of Bohnenstengel, who utilizes the keys to perform base line music with his left hand and lead instrumentals with his right. The resulting sound is so full that listeners often don’t realize there is no bass player in the group until they see the duo perform live. Owens presides at the drums with a mastery that exceptionally serves the songs.

Together, the two performers serve up a musical vibe that is fun, energetic, and contagious for a truly great listening experience for their audience. According to information from the band, they are affectionally known by their followers as a “two-person trio” due to their combined musicality sounding like a three-person band.
