For the first time in our 20-year history, The Independent will present an array of community awards to celebrate all the talent that we have in southern Utah.
Each category will carry a “People’s Choice” and an “Editors’ Choice” winner. We’re opening nominations for one category a day (visual arts, performance arts, and music are already open). Nominations for all categories will remain open until Nov. 1. All nominees must be current residents of southern Utah or be business local to southern Utah.
Voting for the People’s Choice categories will take place on The Independent website during November.
Winners for both the People’s Choice and Editors’ Choice awards will be announced on The Independent website and in our January 2017 print edition.
Today, we open the nominating period for our literary awards!
