Southern Utah’s winter cycling season kicks into high gear this January as the Intermountain Cup brings two competitive cyclocross races to Washington County. Produced in partnership with Red Rock Bicycle Company, the January events offer riders a fast, technical start to the 2026 race calendar while showcasing the region’s mild winter weather and rider-friendly terrain.

The first race of the month, Snake Hollow Cyclocross, takes place Saturday, January 10, at Snake Hollow Bike Park. Known for its mix of paved paths, dirt, and open terrain, the Snake Hollow course delivers classic cyclocross challenges with quick transitions, tight corners, and opportunities for both power and finesse. The venue’s compact layout makes it a favorite for spectators, offering plenty of viewing spots as riders tackle laps at high speed.
Later in the month, the series continues with the Stout Park Stampede Cyclocross on Saturday, January 24, at Stout Park. This Hurricane-based race features a dynamic circuit that blends grassy park space, paved sections, and technical turns. The Stampede has become a popular stop on the Intermountain Cup schedule, drawing riders from across Utah, Nevada, and Arizona for its approachable yet demanding course design.

Cyclocross racing is known for its inclusive spirit, and both January races reflect that ethos. The Intermountain Cup offers multiple categories for age and ability levels, welcoming experienced racers, juniors, and first-time competitors alike. For many athletes, these January races serve as early-season tests or tune-ups ahead of spring mountain bike and road racing schedules.
Red Rock Bicycle Company’s continued involvement underscores the local roots of the series. As a longtime supporter of Southern Utah cycling, the shop plays a key role in fostering competitive racing while supporting trail use and responsible recreation.

Both January races are held on Saturdays and are open to registered participants, with same-day registration available. Spectators are encouraged to attend, cheer on riders, and enjoy the energy of winter racing without the crowds typical of peak season events.
