This September, the red rock country around Kanab becomes the crossroads of the unexplained. The Mysterious X Conference runs September 24–27 at the Historic Redstone Theater on Center Street. This four-day event features talks, panels, film screenings, and after-dark field expeditions built around lost treasure, UFO and UAP research, ancient mysteries, and the paranormal.
The conference is the creation of Dan Dillman, a third-generation treasure hunter, author, and founder of Mysterious X Magazine. Viewers may recognize him from Lost Gold of the Aztecs, Ancient Aliens, and William Shatner’s The UnXplained. Dillman hosts all four days and shares the stage with fifteen other speakers.
The lineup includes forensic geologist Scott Wolter of History Channel’s America Unearthed; Josh and Ron Feldman of Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch; Terry Carter of Beyond Oak Island; Daryl Marston of Ghost Hunters; Hopi messenger Bertram Tsavadawa of Old Oraibi; and Ancient American publisher Wayne May. Filmmaker Ron James will screen his 2026 documentary Accidental Truth Next: Beyond UFO Disclosure, featuring Matthew Modine and Thomas Jane, followed by a Q&A session on a disclosure panel.
The excitement does not stay confined to the theater. Opening night kicks off with a mixer, dinner, and live paranormal investigation inside Kanab’s Once Upon A Time In America Museum, led by Dillman and Marston. Friday and Saturday nights move out to Rising Moon Ranch in Mt. Carmel for catered dinners, campfires, and contact expeditions under some of the darkest skies in the lower 48. Sunday closes with an expedition into Three Lakes Canyon, where the generations-long search for Montezuma’s Aztec treasure continues.
That search is personal for Dillman. On Saturday afternoon, he presents “Montezuma II Decoded: Aztlan/Atlantis Global Civilization,” drawing on six decades of family research into the treasure the Spanish never found.
