Fredonia’s Buckskin Tavern is heading into summer the only way it knows how, full throttle. Owners Taylor Sandstrom and Stephanie Johnson are celebrating one year at the helm with a three-day anniversary party May 8–10, complete with live music, food, games, raffles, and even an on-site tattoo artist for those looking to make the weekend permanent.

Bands scheduled for the celebration include Distortion, The Famous Unknowns, Southbound & Lindsay, and Twisted Cherry. The event also serves as the official kickoff of the tavern’s outdoor stage and bar season, setting the tone for what is shaping up to be Buckskin’s biggest summer yet.

The momentum continues later in the month with another three-day music celebration over Memorial Day weekend featuring additional bands, food, and drinks. In June, the tavern will host its first Pride Fest June 12–14. The event will include multiple bands, vendors, karaoke, open mic nights, food trucks, and a drag show on Saturday evening followed by a drag brunch on Sunday.

Johnson described the upcoming Pride event as “a big one,” adding that volunteers are welcome to participate by reaching out to the tavern directly.

Additional bands scheduled throughout the summer include Crossroads, Evolution, Identity Crisis, and Znora, along with returning favorites Page and the Overtones, The Chris Paul Band, and Mesozoic.

Behind the scenes, Sandstrom and Johnson continue building on the vision they began last year, transforming Buckskin Tavern into more than a bar. Drawing on decades of hospitality experience, the team has steadily expanded offerings that combine live entertainment, community gatherings, and an evolving food program.

The Buckskin’s outdoor space will also see improvements this season, including upgraded seating, added shade, and a new television at the outdoor bar. Inside, the historic tavern retains its rustic charm while incorporating updates designed to keep both locals and travelers returning.

Beginning in May, the tavern will also introduce a weekly “tavern meal,” a hearty, down-home special designed to deliver big flavor at an approachable price point of around $10.

From anniversary celebrations to Pride Fest and a steady calendar of live music, Buckskin Tavern continues to position itself as a regional gathering place where community, music, and a bit of wild desert spirit come together.

Buckskin Tavern is located at 2321 N Main St., Fredonia, Arizona.
