Great music, good food, and a little friendly silent auction competition will come together when Symphony of the Canyons hosts its annual fundraising dinner Friday, September 18, at 6 PM in the Kanab Center Ballroom.
The evening will pair a culinary experience from Chef Dawn and Party in a Box Catering with live entertainment from the regional orchestra. Guests may choose between a vegan meal or prime rib with a baked potato. Reservations made before September 1 are $45 per person, with the price increasing to $50 after that date.

“We are excited to bring a marvelous culinary experience in partnership with Chef Dawn to complement an evening of exceptional entertainment by the symphony,” said Diane Cruz, Symphony of the Canyons events coordinator.
The musical program will feature selections from popular musicals, giving guests a chance to enjoy familiar theatrical favorites while supporting one of the region’s longest-running cultural organizations. A silent auction featuring items donated by local vendors will add another way to help sustain the symphony and its work.
Symphony of the Canyons traces its beginnings back more than four decades, when 17 musicians led by Kanab pharmacist Kortney Stirland came together to perform “The Music Man”. The ensemble later became the Kanab Civic Orchestra and was formally organized as a nonprofit in 1990. It adopted the Symphony of the Canyons name in 1999 to better reflect its wide-ranging membership, which has included musicians from Kanab, Page, St. George, and surrounding communities.

Since that first musical, the volunteer-driven orchestra has presented more than 300 concerts, with performances ranging from “The Nutcracker” and community theater productions to concerts at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The organization also offers scholarships for young musicians in grades seven through 12.
Whether coming for the music, the meal, or the chance to take home something special from the silent auction, this annual dinner offers an opportunity to support live performing arts in southern Utah and northern Arizona. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting Diane Cruz at 801-319-9533 or [email protected].
