High suspense arrives in Southern Utah this January as American Crossroads Theatre remounts its acclaimed production of Dial M for Murder. Performances run January 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30 PM, with a special 2 PM matinee on Saturday, January 17, at the St. George Performing Arts Center, 905 S. Main St.
A Masterclass in Suspense
Written by Frederick Knott and later made famous by Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic film adaptation, Dial “M” for Murder remains one of the most finely crafted thrillers in modern theater. The story centers on Tony Wendice, a retired tennis player who learns that his wealthy wife, Margot, has fallen in love with another man. His calculated solution is murder, but as the plot unfolds, even the most carefully designed plan begins to unravel.
Long regarded as one of the greatest stage mysteries ever written, the play delivers elegance, razor-sharp dialogue, and tightly wound intrigue, keeping audiences guessing until the final twist.
Cast and Direction
American Crossroads Theatre founder and Artistic Director Richard Bugg returns to direct the production, leading a cast that previously drew strong response during its fall run. Reflecting on the decision to bring the show back, Bugg said, “We had such a wonderful time with a superb cast and cheering audiences in Cedar City, that we jumped at the chance to mount the show again for St. George audiences. This timeless mystery classic will keep you on the edge of your seat—it does me, and I directed it!”
Reprising their roles are Tyson Chanticleer as Tony Wendice, Rachel Cox as Margot, and Jared Davis as Max, her American love interest. Brodie Perry brings sly charm as Captain Lesgate, joined by John Blasko as Inspector Hubbard and Stacey Johnson as Thompson. Together, the ensemble delivers precise timing, layered performances, and sustained tension throughout the production.
