Avamere builds new retirement community in Washington
The Avamere Family of Companies announced it has selected the St. George metropolitan area for a first-of-its-kind senior campus. The development is part of the Sienna Hills master planned community just off the milepost 13 exit off Interstate 15 in Washington. When completed, Sienna Hills will feature 740 acres of mixed land uses including a variety of residential and commercial offerings.
“This development will be very different from any other senior housing currently available in the St George area,” said Avamere Health Services CEO Gary Wart. “Our vision is to deliver an unparalleled combination of service, amenities, culinary arts, and technology on a campus-style development.”
The new micro Continuing Care Retirement Community will feature 150 independent living units, 90 assisted living units, and 60 memory care units. Residents will be able to age in place with all levels of care on a single campus. The upscale community will feature high-end finishes, multiple dining options, and concierge service.
“We intentionally selected St. George for the roll-out of our new concept because the active lifestyle in this region,” said Wart. “We’ve completed a great deal of baby boomer research, and this is about having an operational model that matches the values of the local market — and St. George celebrates wellness, the outdoors, and staying active.”
Avamere plans to roll out similar next-generation developments in multiple western cities over the coming years at a rate of up to one per quarter.
Avamere currently operates senior communities in four states. Since 2007 the company has won 32 bronze awards and three silver awards from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living Quality Awards.
Avamere has successfully purchased the Washington property, and construction is scheduled to begin this fall with a completion date in late 2019.
