On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Brigham’s Playhouse opened the captivating musical, “The Secret Garden.” Based on the classic novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this Broadway masterpiece—which first opened in 1991 and ran for more than 700 performances—brings the story to life on stage with a talented cast, breathtaking music, and a heartwarming tale featuring book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon.
“The Secret Garden” is about a young girl, Mary Lennox, whose life is turned upside-down after her parents, along with nearly everyone else she knows, die of cholera. She has no choice but to leave India for England and move in with her uncle, Archibald Craven, whom she has never met. “The Secret Garden” takes audience members along with Mary as she uncovers the secrets of Misselthwaite Manor and its locked garden.
“The Secret Garden” began its six-week run at Brigham’s Playhouse on Sept. 22 and will close on Halloween night, Oct. 31. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, with an additional matinee performance on Saturdays at 2 p.m. To order tickets, visit Brigham’s Playhouse’s website, call (435) 251-8000, or stop by the box office at 25 N 300 W in Washington Tuesdays through Saturdays between noon and 7 p.m.
