Brother Music / A Lifetime of Sound
Comes to Kanab January 7th, 2022

Blues legend Brother Music will be performing in Kanab at Peekaboo Wood Fired Kitchen on Friday, January 7 from 6 – 8 PM.

The son of a country/swing musician, Jimmy Warburton took to the guitar like a duck to water at age six. With his brother, Josh, he began singing at age eight, organizing a band at 15, and has never stopped performing over the past 60 years.

Whether playing high school dances or on the Strip of Waikiki during his military duty, the ’60s were formative years. Jimmy became James, and by 1970, he acquired the tag “Brother Music.”  He has either fronted his own band or been featured as a solo performer, sharing the stage with such legendary artists such as Tina Turner, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musselwhite, Taj Mahal, and scores of others.

Now, Brother Music has brought back his “One-man band” format, added Native-American flute, and featuring original songs he calls “Spiritual Soul”, combining influences from several American genres and many influences from around the world. He has played almost every imaginable gig from a Gypsy wedding to backing up noted poet Alan Ginsberg, and everything and anything in between. His time living in the Orient, traveling around the world, and playing personally in sessions with truly great artists, gives him a unique perspective – blending world music with the many styles of traditional American influences into his own original sound.

Adding the Native-Ameican flute and his often-requested storytelling, Brother Music covers a wide range of listening enjoyment. It is no wonder that his Spokane-based radio show,  the Brother Music Soul Express on NPR, has furthered his continuing status as an American music legend, fortunately, while he still breathes and shouts his inimitable sound.

Brother Music is available for performances and private parties in the southern Utah area this winter and he can be reached at 208-265-9295. Samples can be listened to on soundcloud.com and you may even catch him out front of Honey’s or Glaziers with his “Prayer Van” performing Native American flute or some of his original spirituals.

Come on out to Peekaboo restaurant on Friday, January 7 at 6 p.m. for a taste of this unique veteran bluesman.
