Get the best seat in town for the annual Cedar City Fourth of July fireworks show, and enjoy a night with Southern Utah University Aviation at the T-Bird Hangar Party and Fireworks.

SUU Aviation is opening its hangar to the public to have a meet and greet with pilots and their planes and enjoy music, free snow cones provided by the aviation department, and the best view of the Cedar City Fourth of July fireworks show on Independence Day.

All are invited to bring their own food and lawn chairs and enjoy a performance by 3hattrio, a band from the heart of Zion Canyon. The event starts at 7 p.m. Live music will start at 7:45 p.m. and last until dusk, when the annual Cedar City fireworks show will begin.

SUU Aviation pilots will be available for a meet-and-greet and show various aircraft on the tarmac. Community members will get a chance to have fun and friendly interaction with SUU’s pilots, ask questions and tour their state-of-the-art helicopters and planes.

“We are grateful for the community’s support of our program and want to show our appreciation by opening up our facility for the public to enjoy,” said executive director of SUU Aviation and chief flight instructor Mike Mower. “City staff use the airport property for their annual fireworks show, so we have the best seats in the city. Bring your family, tour our aircraft, and meet our pilots — it will be a good time for everyone.”

3hattrio — made up of local musicians Hal Cannon, Eli Wrankle, and Greg Istock — is known for its unique American desert music sound. The band aims to create new music that acknowledges the culture and the people who work and live in the deserts of the American Southwest. 3hattrio has toured in many locations, including Scandinavia.

The SUU Professional Pilot Aviation Program uniquely prepares students for a career piloting aircraft in many aviation industries anywhere in the world. SUU Aviation offers training in rotor wing piloting or fixed wing piloting. For more information about SUU’s Professional Pilot Aviation Program, call (435) 865-8600.
