The Celebrity Concert Series was established in 1958 to bring world-class performances to St. George. During that time, we have seen some incredible artists who have brought their craft to the stage of DSU’s Cox Performing Arts Center. The 2016–17 season continues in that tradition as we welcome such luminaries as Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, and the Drifters.

Sharing the bill on Nov. 16 are Manhattan Transfer and Take 6. Between them, the two groups boast a remarkable 20 Grammy Awards and perform a range of styles that cover nearly every genre of popular music from jazz and swing to gospel and rhythm and blues. As Manhattan Transfer marks the 40th anniversary of its debut recording on Atlantic Records, Janis Siegel, Alan Paul, and Cheryl Bentyne will honor founding member Tim Hauser while continuing to tour with their newest member, Trist Curless. Meanwhile, sharing crystal clear harmony, innovative arrangements, and funky grooves, Take 6 demonstrates why the sextet is recognized as the preeminent a cappella group in the world. No ordinary double bill, this is a show combining unexpected twists and turns to create a once-in-a-lifetime musical event!

“Up on the Roof.” “Under the Boardwalk.” “This Magic Moment.” “There Goes My Baby.” “Dance with Me.” “Spanish Harlem.” “Stand by Me.” The list of hits goes on and on. The Drifters, one of rock ‘n’ roll’s founding vocal groups and the first African American group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is once again touring the U.S.

The remainder of the season includes BYU’s Noteworthy, GENTRI (performing with the DSU Symphony Orchestra), illusionist Adam Trent, Canadian Brass, Ryan Shupe, Stephen Bues, Ken Lavigne, Californian Guitar Trio, BYU Men’s Chorus, and Joe Trio.

Single show tickets are now on sale along with season ticket options, which include all 12 shows or a pick-your-own nine- or six-ticket package. The Celebrity Concert Series continues to be the best value and highest quality event in southern Utah.

In addition to the Celebrity Concert Series events, DSU is pleased to announce that the Utah Symphony will return to the Cox Performing Arts Center stage Nov. 22. Tickets went on sale Sept. 8. Proceeds benefit Art Around The Corner as it continues to add art installations in St. George and on the DSU campus.

Tickets are available at the DSU box office, dsutix.com, celebrityconcertseries.com, or by calling (435) 652-7800. Join us as we “bring the world to our stage.”
