Chai Almond Latte recipe

This Chai Almond Latte recipe makes my favorite warm beverage. It’s free of caffeine, dairy, and sugar! It is also delicious cold. I have loved the Starbucks Soy Chai Tea for years. This has taken it’s place and is so much more healthy! Dates are a natural sugar and the healthiest of sweeteners for recipes. They are high in fiber and contain many vitamins and minerals: calcium, iron, B-4,  potassium, magnesium, beta-carotene, and niacin. Dates don’t raise blood sugar and are a low-glycemic-index food.

Chai Almond Latte

Yield: 1 16 oz serving

3-5 Medjool Dates, pitted and halved
2 cups water
1/2 tablespoon almond butter
1/2 – 1 teaspoon chai spice*
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

1. Pour water into a small pot over medium-high heat. Add pitted dates. Once water is boiling, transfer it to a blender.

2. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.

3. Pour into a mug and enjoy.

Note: If concerned about putting all the boiling water directly into your blender, put about 1/2 cup of the 2 cups of water into the blender first and remaining water in the pan to boil.

*Chai Spice Ingredients

Yield: 6 Tablespoons

1/4 cup cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon ground nutmeg
1/2 tablespoon ground clove
1/2 tablespoon ground ginger
1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Store in an airtight container.
