City of St. George, Spin collaborate for e-scooter launch

The City of St. George and Spin, a partner of Zagster Inc., will mark the official beginning of e-scooters in St. George with a ceremony at DSU March 7 at noon at the clock tower adjacent to the Holland Building. Everyone is invited to this event.

“Having Spin scooters arrive in St. George is huge for us and we expect them to be very popular throughout the city — and especially at Dixie State,” said St. George Mayor Jon Pike. “Renting the scooters will be easy and their usage twofold: getting to a destination within the city or taking them for recreation on one of our scenic trails.”

Expected to be on hand are 100 scooters that can be taken around a marked course for free. Following the launch, Spin’s scooters will be available for rent beginning at 6 a.m. March 8. All scooter rentals must be done via the Spin app on smartphones.

Pizza will be served, and many items given away.

  1. I have duly noted in the Independent how crazy the traffic is in SG in several letters to the editor. I have witnessed bicyclists get hit twice here. We have had skateboarders get hit. With the exception of Dixie St campus. and local surroundings, you are asking for trouble. Also, where do you go on your scooter? Tourists will have no idea how dangerous the traffic is here. I give it less then 3 months until we read about the first accident.. Let’s hope it is not a fatality. Mayor Pike is nutts. Hope I am dead wrong.
