Eagle Point Resort makes significant upgrades for 2018–19 winter season

First-ever snowmaking system comes to the resort; resort-wide Wi-Fi added; ticket prices remain at same low rate

Following a challenging winter season that saw below-average snowfall totals across the western United States, Eagle Point Resort announced the addition of the resort’s first-ever snowmaking system, slated to be in operation for the 2018–19 season. The installation is in alignment with the bold Vision 2020 plan announced three years ago to expand resort amenities, improve existing facilities, and develop additional lodging and home ownership options while maintaining the distinguishing charm and aesthetics of the resort and surrounding area. The resort also announced the groundbreaking for turnkey Twin Homes in the new Aspen Crest at Eagle Point collection of ski-in/ski-out homesites and future condominium community currently in development in the heart of the resort. Some of the twin homes are expected to be ready by winter and potentially available for guest lodging. Guests will also find added convenience this year with Wi-Fi installed in lodges and hotspots around the resort.

“Last season was a tough one — we were not open as many days as we or our guests would have liked,” said Eagle Point Resort owner and CEO Shane Gadbaw. “Eagle Point Resort averages over 350” per year of Utah’s Greatest Snow on Earth. Many years, we exceed that number like we did in 2016–17, but last year we were well below our average with warmer temperatures working against us as well. Rather than complain or cower to Mother Nature, we have elected to charge ahead. With daily visits growing, including more and more residents joining us from Southern California and new homeowners finding a second home at Eagle Point, we felt now was the time to make this significant investment so guests can visit with added confidence, knowing what Mother Nature may occasionally not provide we will ourselves. We still have faith in Mother Nature, too, and anticipate this season many of the epic powder days that we are known for.”

With a total installation cost exceeding $1 million, the new system will first focus on the learning areas and many of the popular trails serviced by the Monarch Lift including the terrain park, which will amplify feature development capabilities. The system lays the groundwork for future expansion across the resort’s 650 total acres. Included are two 20-acre-feet storage ponds, nearly 10,000 feet of pipe, and eight new snow guns from Snow Machines Inc.

Looking ahead to the 2018–19 winter season, Eagle Point Resort guests will find much that is new:

—Approximately 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom, two-car-garage Twin Homes within Aspen Crest. With awe-inspiring views in every direction, Aspen Crest offers private home and condo sites with a seamless, all-season connection to over 1.5 million pristine acres within the surrounding Fishlake National Forest. The ski-in/ski-out residential development is the nation’s newest slopeside year-round set of homesites and will offer exclusive access through the resort’s private 1,200 acres to the vast forest beyond for skiing, biking, hiking, or riding. An interest list is forming at aspen-crest.com.

—Significant expansion of nightly lodging options as more homeowners join the Eagle Point Property Management Program and the first Aspen Crest homes are completed.

—High-speed Internet (500 MB per second) in lodges and Wi-Fi hotspots around the resort.

—Continued renovation of many of the existing ski-in/ski-out condominiums throughout the resort.

—The same low ticket prices as last season.

“While many vocalized that they actually enjoy the digital escape that challenging cell service sometimes provides, we want guests to feel they can connect to the outside world when they need to, and now they can with Wi-Fi hotspots around the resort,” said Gadbaw. “Now that selfie with your friends can find its way to Instagram immediately. We’ll continue to make improvements while distinguishing ourselves from the mega-resorts and preserving the charm of this unique place. Our guiding principle is the customer and providing them the best possible experience, and that means being fair and respectful of their time and resources. At the end of last season, we took the unprecedented decision that all purchasers of 2017–18 Season Passes will receive a complimentary 2018–19 Eagle Point Season Pass. And this year, we are really going against the grain by increasing all lift ticket prices by $0.”

Additionally, Eagle Point Resort is now the home of Aspen Equity Real Estate, an independently owned real estate agency launched in 2017. The agency focuses on the real estate marketplace for the surrounding area, catering to buyers and sellers with a highly skilled, locally knowledgeable, and community-driven service team.

Perched high upon a stunning location in the Tushar Mountains, Eagle Point Resort in Beaver is southern Utah’s newest ski and snowboard resort. Considered a perfect getaway from the crowded slopes and high prices of the mega-resorts, Eagle Point is a scenic 3.5-hour drive from Las Vegas and Salt Lake City and 6–8 hours from Arizona and coastal Southern California cities. The independently owned resort averages 400 inches of the Greatest Snow on Earth each year across 600 skiable acres and over 1,500 vertical feet including some of the steepest lift serviced terrain in Utah. In 2017, the resort once again received the prestigious TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on consistently great reviews earned on tripadvisor.com.
