…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH THIS
EVENING…

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southern Utah, including
the following areas, South Central Utah, Southern Mountains,
and Utahs Dixie and Zion National Park.

* From noon MDT today through this evening

* Thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon
across the southern mountains of Utah and then progress into
southwest and south central Utah by late afternoon and evening.
These thunderstorms will be capable of very heavy rainfall in a
short period of time.

* Flash flood prone areas include the Brian Head burn scar, slot
canyons, slick rock areas, normally dry washes and small
streams. Rainfall may cause localized urban flooding. Heavy
rainfall may cause travel difficulties on unimproved roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
