Ian Moschenross performs Mozart Chopin

Ian Moschenross will perform piano music by Mozart and Chopin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Thorley Recital Hall in Southern Utah University’s music building. The performance is free and open to the public.

Moschenross performance will include “Danza de la Pastora” from “Sonatina” by Ernesto Halffter, “Sonata in C Major, K. 330” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and “Valse-Caprice No. 6 in A Minor, S. 427” from Soirées de Vienne arranged by Franz Liszt with an alternate ending by Vladimir Horowitz. The program will also feature “Valse brilliante in A-flat Major, Op. 34, No. 1” by Frederic Chopin, “Arabeske, Op. 18” by Robert Schumann, “La Plus que Lente (Valse)” by Claude Debussy, “Trois Esquisses de danses modernes” by Bohuslav Martinu, and “Danzas Argentinas” by Alberto Ginastera.

Moschenross is an active recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist. In addition to performing and adjudicating, he teaches applied piano, music history, theory, appreciation, and interdisciplinary courses at Monmouth College where he has served on the faculty since 2004. He chaired the Monmouth College Music Department from 2005-2011. A member of the Illinois Music Teachers Association, Moschenross is a past executive board member and past treasurer. Dr. Moschenross earned degrees from Hanover College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he studied with Dr. C. Kimm Hollis and Dr. Mark Clinton, respectively.
