Frontier Homestead State Park Museum will celebrate the founding of Cedar City with a day of activities designed to honor the spirit of the community and those who created opportunities for its growth. The annual Iron Mission Days event will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pioneer activities, crafts for kids, and living history demonstrations will be available as part of Iron Mission Days. Staff will showcase tomahawk throwing, candle dipping, and bread baked in a wood-fired oven. Freshly pressed apple cider will be there for all. Additionally, visitors will be able to practice woodworking skills in the Nelson Carpentry Shop and make the Frontier Homestead State Park’s rag dolls. The Sagebrush Fiber Artisans will be practicing their craft, the replica Fremont Indian pithouse will be open for exploration, and patrons will be able to take advantage of the newly completed horseshoe pits.
The cost of Iron Mission Days is $5 per family. For more information, call (435) 586-9290. Frontier Homestead State Park is located at 635 N. Main St. in Cedar City.
