June Moon Jubilee George StreetfestOn June 3, St. George City Recreation inaugurates the June Moon Jubilee, a celebration of summer and family that will light up the night. This new celebration of summer is designed to coordinate festivities with the anniversary of George Streetfest, which has become Southern Utah’s most popular nightlife gathering in downtown St. George on the first Friday of each month.

In conjunction with Streetfest — which monthly includes George Jr. Village, The Desert Pulse Jazz Garden, and Midnight Movie — the Jubilee adds a Moonlight 5K and Light Parade featuring several glowing floats. The Moonlight 5k is organized by St. George Races, and the Light Parade by Brad Harr & Associates.

“The St. George summer is well known for its heat, so we thought that a nighttime, family-friendly celebration would be a way to provide something unique and comfortable for participants,” said Aaron Metler, race and special events coordinator for the City of St. George Recreation Department.

“We see the jubilee as a wonderful opportunity to combine community resources in celebrating the anniversary of a nightlife event that truly celebrates the best of our community and in welcoming summer under the splendor of a June moon,” said Melynda Thorpe, George Streetfest executive producer.
