On June 12, The Utah Jazz announced the annual Junior Jazz summer road trip, which will make several stops in southern Utah towns and cities. Forward Royce O’Neale will take part in the trip, which begins June 18. During the tour’s first week, they will travel more than 1,000 miles to 13 cities in two states and reach more than 1,000 boys and girls. The final two weeks of clinics will take place in August.

“The Junior Jazz road trip is a long-standing tradition for our organization,” said Steve Starks, Utah Jazz president. “Holding basketball clinics in cities outside of the Wasatch Front gives us the opportunity to connect with fans that might not otherwise have the chance to see us in person and thank them for their support.”

The 2018 Junior Jazz road trip marks the 34th consecutive year the Jazz have conducted the hour-long basketball clinics for youth in participating Junior Jazz towns across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. Jazz players, alumni, and staff support the summer caravan each year.

O’Neale will conduct the first week (June 18–22) of Junior Jazz clinics as well as sign autographs and take pictures with the participants. This will be O’Neale’s first Junior Jazz road trip. A detailed schedule is below:

This initiative was introduced in 2005 to honor and reward teams that best exemplify sportsmanlike conduct throughout the season.

With more than 1.5 million total participants, Junior Jazz completed its 35th season of award-winning youth basketball that connects communities, friends, and families through the love of the game. It is open to youth in kindergarten through 12th grade, and registration for the program can be done through local parks and recreation departments.
