Kanab hosts Utah Tennis Association instructors for clinics, tournaments

On May 28 and 29, Utah Tennis Association instructors will hold tennis clinics and tournaments for all ages and from beginners to advanced players. This is a free event supported by Kanab Recreation and Kane Community Tennis.

Highlighting the activities will be a fast-paced four-score tournament for adults. Teams of four play matches against each of three other teams in a shortened scoring and set format. This two-hour event is quickly becoming a player favorite and is filled to capacity when offered in northern Utah. Also on the schedule are adult world team tennis and youth challenge tournaments in a two-hour format. Evening beginner and advanced adult clinics and a youth intermediate lesson round out the schedule.

Laurie Lambert is the executive director of Utah Tennis Association and no stranger to tennis in Kane County and Fredonia. She has offered physical education classes and youth and adult clinics. Under Lambert’s leadership, the UTA has been a professional and financial support to Kane Community Tennis programs by providing donations of equipment and grant funds for equipment, court lighting, and fee scholarships.

Garrett Snyder is the Tennis Service Rep for Utah from the Intermountain USTA Regional Office located in Denver.  Garrett is all things youth tennis and has enjoyed meeting and playing with the kids and adults in Kane County. Gretchen Soffe is Utah Tennis Outreach Coordinator and a first-time visitor to Kanab.
