Local AAUW branch hosts scholarship fundraiser

The American Association of University Women’s St. George branch will hold a fundraiser, “A Night of Inspiration,” for girls and women Jan. 25 at the Sun River Ballroom. The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to award scholarships to women attending DSU. Last year, AAUW awarded almost $42,000 to several dozen students.
This year, the AAUW’s St. George branch will host keynote speakers Mayor of Hildale Donia Jessop and Amy Barlow, a DSU student. Their message will be one of empowerment growing up in a FLDS community.
A social hour accompanied by entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. There will also be silent and live auctions.
Tickets are $85 per person and can be purchased at aauw-stgeorge.org/gala. Complimentary wine, champagne, and Italian soda will be served. All proceeds benefit AAUW’s St. George branch. Donations and corporate sponsorships are appreciated. Donations can be mailed to AAUW, PO Box 370, St. George, UT 84770. The Sun River Ballroom is located at 4275 S. Country Club Dr. in St.
