Matching donor helps Switchpoint raise funds for housing complex

Switchpoint Community Resource Center is in the final phase of raising funds to break ground this year on an affordable housing complex. Switchpoint has raised over $10,000,000 through grants and tax credits but remains short $500,000. A generous donor has offered to match dollar for dollar on donations up to $175,000. The donor wants to see community support and engagement for this project.

“The answer to solving homelessness is to provide affordable, accessible housing,” said Carol Hollowell, executive director of Switchpoint Community Resource Center. Hollowell points out the extreme lack of affordable properties in Washington County available to our service workers, teachers, and firemen.

“Many residents are working multiple low-paying jobs and the numbers simply don’t add up for them to be able to get into housing,” Hollowell said. “It is a crisis that we must address.”

“I know it’s a very trite phrase, but it really does take a village to make sure everyone in the village is safe, healthy, happy and progressing,” said David Dangerfield, chairman of the board of directors for Switchpoint. “We cannot get there without our community stepping in to help.”
