ST. GEORGE — To commemorate National Police Week (May 15-21) and further strengthen ties with community members, the St. George Police Department and St. George Races are combining to host a new themed race, the Cops and Robbers 5K, set for May 21 at 9 a.m. at Crosby Family Confluence Park (1953 S. Convention Center Drive).

“We wanted to go above and beyond to celebrate National Police Week by creating an event that would be exciting and

interactive for our community members of all ages,” said St. George Police Officer Cody Layton. “With our community being at the heart of what we do, we are able to recognize and honor the support and love from those we serve.”

National Police Week is intended to bring special recognition to those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many national and local-level organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community.

When a person registers for the Cops and Robbers 5K, they can choose to be on either Team Cop or Team Robber — and will receive custom shirts and socks according to their choice. The robbers will be given a 2-minute head start before the cops. (This is a timed race and your time will start once you cross the start line regardless of your team.)

Participants are asked to park at the Dixie Convention Center and take a short walk south to the starting line at Confluence Park. Doughnuts will be available while supplies last.
