Public meeting allows questions and comments for Northern Corridor project

 By Christian Venhuizen

The public is invited to a meeting Dec. 17 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dixie Convention Center to provide the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service comments on multiple projects in Washington County including the proposed Northern Corridor.

In anticipation of the start of a 30-day scoping period, the BLM and USFWS invited the public to the meeting to identify issues, ask questions, or express concerns regarding the development of a draft environmental impact statement that will analyze the Utah Department of Transportation’s proposed highway right-of-way — called the Northern Corridor project — and the issuance of an incidental take permit to Washington County as well as potential associated actions. In order to provide the public as much notice as possible regarding the public meeting, the BLM is providing this information now and will accept comments before the official scoping period begins. The 30-day scoping period officially began with the publication of a notice of intent in the Federal Register Dec. 5.

Comments may be submitted at go.usa.gov/xpC6H, emailed to blm_ut_northerncorridor@blm.gov, or mailed to Bureau of Land Management, Attn: Northern Corridor, 345 E. Riverside Dr., St. George, UT 84790.
