Rattlin’ D Playhouse Brings Entertainment Home

Washington County’s best-kept secret is back with another laugh-out-loud Valentine’s themed Variety Show. Rattlin’ D Playhouse in Hurricane has entertained audiences for the last 13 years and forged a strong local following for their twice-a-year dinner show productions.

“We moved down here 13 years ago and have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from this community”, says owner/operator Drew Durrant. “When we first began, we would average about 30-40 patrons a night, and now, we consistently sell out entire runs. It’s been really fun to see the growth over the years.”

Rattlin’ D Playhouse serves up a prime rib dinner with a family-friendly variety show or musical spoof twice a year on the campus of Utah Prep Academy in Hurricane, Utah. In the summers, the performing troupe heads north to Yellowstone Playhouse in Island Park, Idaho, performing from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Their current production, “My Funny Valentine: 2025,” features an evening of musical songs and comedy sketches themed around love. Skyler Scott, Stephen Michaud, Brittany Johnson, Marissa Petralia, and owner Drew Durrant round out the cast.

“Our goal has always been to give couples a fun night out with great food and big laughs,” states Durrant. “When it comes to all the fantastic theater options in Southern Utah, we drive in our own lane with the spoofs and sketch comedy routines.”

In 2024, Rattlin’ D Playhouse was voted the 2nd best theater in Southern Utah behind Tuacahn.

“I’ve seen EVERY show in 13 years, and this one might be my new favorite”, says patron Tony Chambers. “They knocked it out of the park, and the laughs were NONSTOP!”
