REO SPEEDWAGON TO PERFORM AT TUACAHN

MARCH 25th – Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon’s unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band’s explosive HI INFIDELITY in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run.” That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA’s coveted 10X Diamond Award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States.

From 1977 to 1989, REO Speedwagon released nine consecutive albums all certified Platinum or higher. Today, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Neal

Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites such as “Ridin’ The Storm Out,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Time For Me To Fly,” “Roll With The Changes,” “Keep On Loving You,” “Take It On the Run,” and many, many more.

  1. I doubt few will see this comment. I saw REO the last time they were here. No doubt an iconic band with a string of hits from the 70s and 80s. I will not be going this time. Like an atypical radio station of the last Century the Tuacahn plays the same songs over and over again. On a few rare occasions we get some new blood in town, but more often than not it is the same ole same ole, and this goes for copy bands as well. The best concert I attended was when they had the Floyd copy band almost 8 years ago. It was one of those rare occasions when the Tuacahn crowd teuly came alive. The REO concert was kind of like, that as well 4 yrars ago or so. There are so many great bands out there, young and old… but it appears the target market is qn older highly conservative boomer crowd. Yes America and ex Steely Dan is not too shoddy, but still, there is so much more potential. Well perhaps the SNL “footloose” legacy still lives on in these here parts. Imagine – Imagine Dragons… Genesis- Musical Box, Tool (never happenning) or Tears for Fears… well keep imagining .. ain’t happening.

  2. I’m not sure why you think few will see your comment. While I understand why you would feel this way, it’s important to understand, Tuacahn is not JUST for our entertainment as much as it is here to entertain folks from all over our country. By bringing great acts like this to southern Utah, it brings in much-needed tourism dollars that frankly we would not be thriving here in this great area without. And I think it’s a stretch to throw in ‘conservative boomer crowd’ unless you just want to sound like all the other media-gogs out there that think everything comes down to race, gender, or political preferences. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. Have a great week Fulcanelli…

  3. 1st off, not sure anybody would think there would be a comment underneath this type of article – thus the statement regarding likely fact it will go unnoticed has legitimacy.. (cellphone format especially) Next – no argument the Tuacahn CAN potentially appeal to a National crowd and attract tourists, and their theatrical productions certainly do, however the majority of copy bands they book are a dime a dozen and have no appeal outside of the local region. Now the race / gender / politics preference remark (truly confuses me) is obviously some sort of retort which is out of context as I am certainly not a media gog. I do not post on any social media platforms from Facebook to Twitter. I use to post remarks on youtube, but no longer do that. On that note I have been leaving comments here for alnost 9 years and met Josh once upon a time at the Chamber of commerce meeting when he was running for County Commissioner. I also knew Jason fairly well – met him at the 2nd ot 3rd DT St George fest when the Independent had a booth there. Loved his articles and his daring, but ‘man o man’ did he piss off people once in awhile… (he got threats on rare occasions!) Never met Dallas, but had great respect for him – absolute journalist of the highest caliber Also I personally published 7 or 8 years ago 2 letters to the editor regarding traffic safety locally , and I encourage you to look them up. One article was trending somewhat on Google for 3 months due to its title. For my community stuff.. ask Lisa for a reference to my activities regarding the local tortoise reserve. Anyway I like the fact you stood up for the Tuacahn. Peace out… and PS would love to know how many people view this comment. Impossible to tell… the article yes.. but the comment below is hidden and likely separate viewership unidentifiable. As the saying goes – it’s a small world after all. All due respect as well, you are doing a fine job – A kindler gentler Independent nowadays.

  4. Oh forgot… on the “conservative boomer crowd” maybe add a few Gen Xers like myself…. Beach Boys, Air Supply, Beatles copy band etc… Peter Cetera – so many times… not sure he lives here… and yes Heart is boomer too… Hey how about Steve Wilson (porcupine Tree) He sold out a smaller venue in SLC recently? King Crimson / J. Tull ? Prog rock? Not a fan of Blues Travelers – but I’ll give the Tuacahn booking agent a little credit a couple years ago. – Also can add Joan Jett who cancelled in 2019 due to Covid – also not a fan, but did like her music when she was in the Runaways back in the day. On Country music, I have no expertise – Let’s be honest – and yes, I do get the fact people like to sing along with a Tom Petty copy band, so why take the risk as well as rhe levels of accommodation required? Many in this town agree with my side of the equation…(primarily younger demographic)- and many also want to keep things unchanged (conservative boomer demographic) … alas the SNL footloose analogy seems appropriate Omnia Vincit veritas… Always Vegas… bought my Roger Waters tickets in 2019 – front row balconey for this October. Cannot take this too seriously… and yes likely just between you and me. Speaking of YES.. Peace out

  5. Josh Warburton band also would be great along with local bands among others Wire Elefant and Morning Sexy. Lol… free plug. So many great bands here.

  6. Oh one last comment… promise.. If the Tuacahn could get the Osmonds to do CRAZY HORSE at Tuacahn + they could make a video . that would be insane. That album is solid rock with badass riffs.. Sorry … Marie would have to watch. I would not miss it. CRAZY HORSE is one of a kind… prog rock / hard rock influence. Who would have thought!
