Restaurants Open for Business In spite of Covid-19

As many businesses in southern Utah are having to close their doors, restaurants like Hash House a Go-Go are leading the way to keep doors open and their clients well fed.

Utah restaurants, bars, and food-service establishments were ordered to close all dine-in operations as of midnight last Wednesday in a move Gov. Gary Herbert and health officials said was meant to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Herbert’s order comes as coronavirus cases in Utah continued to climb and elected leaders rolled out the first emergency measures to help small businesses and those experiencing unemployment as a result of the virus.

In connection with this order the governor’s Office of Economic Development, or GOED, announced the availability of low-interest loans for small businesses and nonprofit groups in Utah that will be impacted by the current state of this global pandemic.

Through the federal Small Business Administration, the program offers loans in all 29 Utah counties of up to $2 million per entity on a 30-year repayment schedule and at reduced interest rates of 3.75% for businesses and 2.75% for nonprofits, GOED said.

Most restaurants in southern Utah are doing everything they can to keep their doors open like Hash House a Go-GO. “We intend to keep open and to keep serving our ‘twisted farm food’ for as long as we possibly can,” said Tyler Hunsaker, General Manager of Hash House. “we’re taking orders for either pick-up or delivery. The safety of our guests and team members is our highest priority. We adhere to the highest standards of health and safety practices to deliver quality food on a daily basis. With the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we have adopted additional protocols as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health departments in the areas we operate. We will continue to monitor the situation and adapt any new protocols necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests and team members.”

Delivery Options are currently available through GrubHub or you can call them directly for pick up.

In addition to Hash House being open, Canyon Media has launched a new website, StGeorgeDining.com, to help other local restaurants stay afloat during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Tyler wanted this emphasized; “Our main goal is to keep our loyal clients happy, healthy, and ensure they stay well-fed. Hash House is known for its huge portions and reasonable prices and that’s not going to change.”
