Silver Reef Museum will celebrate the many and varied desert blooms that adorn Silver Reef and the surrounding area April 28 with Desert Bloom Day. Special programs set up in the Cosmopolitan Building will feature beautiful blooms frequenting southern Utah deserts.

Admission is $5 per person and includes admission to all day events in the Cosmopolitan and the Silver Reef Museum, the mine exhibit tour, special walking tours, and day-only access to other areas. Registration is available online at tinyurl.com/desertbloomday or by calling (435) 879-2254.

Or $10 for two adults and up to three children under 18 years of age (admission for additional immediate family members under 18 years of age is $2 each). The Silver Reef Museum and the Cosmopolitan Building are located at 1903 Wells Fargo Rd. in Leeds.

 

Desert Bloom Day events in the Cosmopolitan

10 a.m. –Lecture on the beauty of desert plants by Ryan White from Red Hills Desert Gardens

11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.: “Blooms of the Desert” slide show

11 a.m.–3 p.m.: Cactus punch, lavender lemonade, and flower cookies

1:30 p.m.: Lecture on native plants by Lee Hughes, native plant expert

2:30–5 p.m.: “Blooms of the Desert” slide show

 

Desert Bloom Day events held around the grounds

11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Guided tour of the grounds

1 p.m. and 3 p.m.: Heist of the Flowers, a shoot-out reenactment by Lawmen & the Muddy River Gang

3:30–4:30 p.m.: Guided tour of the grounds
