Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located five miles north of Kanab at 5001 Angel Canyon Road. All adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and are up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have questions about a specific pet or the adoption process, please email adoptions@bestfriends.org. If you’d like to apply to adopt one of these featured pets, click the link to their bio where you will find the adoption survey.

Buffy

This gorgeous girl is named Buffy. Buffy can be sassy and opinionated but is mostly just sweet and playful. She loves playing with toys and balls out in the yard. She would do best in a home without small children. She is friendly, and loving, and walks politely on a leash. She will impress you with her skills – flawless “sit” and an amazing “high five” and “shake”. If you are interested in meeting Buffy and potentially welcoming her into your own home, please reach out to our adoption specialists and they can help you out!

Violet

Violet is a sweet, healthy puppy who adores people and loves to cuddle. She has a fun side, too, whether it’s playing with other dogs or toys. Violet is curious and likes to follow people around. She knows how to use the doggy door and learns quickly. She’s an adorable girl who will grow up to be an incredible companion.

Vanessa

Vanessa is a fun, healthy puppy who loves to play with toys and other dogs. She learns quickly and knows how to use the doggy door. Vanessa can be a little shy around people but warms up quickly. She’s a loveable gal who will grow up to be a wonderful companion, especially with another dog in the home.

Fleece

They call me Fleece because I promise I’ll snuggle you real good and keep you warm when it’s cold out! I’m equal parts sugar and spice, but I’m very nice! I like my friends, but at a distance (I’d much prefer a new furparent to snuggle with than my furfriends). I hope will give me a chance to prove what a sweet girl I am!

Kimaya and Panjiri

Kimaya
Panjiri

Kimaya and Panjiri are a rugged pair and they love the outdoors. Kimaya and Panjiri are a bonded pair, so they would be great for a working cat situation if they can go together. Do you have a home where they can explore outside and do a little mousing while at it? If so, make arrangements to meet this pair today!

RSQ

RSQ is a non-profit animal rescue in St. George, Utah. Our mission is to be a voice for the voiceless, bettering the lives of animals in Utah’s rural communities. All the animals in our care are fully vetted including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchiped, and any medical care they may need before adoption. We are open for walk-in visitors on Thursdays, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. For more information on RSQ and our adoptable animals, please contact RSQ at (800) 897-1136 or visit rsqutah.org.

Zane

Zane is a new friend here at RSQ! He and his brother are in a foster home, learning all the skills to easily transition into your home. The doggie door is a skill he has recently mastered! Cattle dogs are very energetic, so Zane needs an active family to help him live his best life!  Zane is friendly, affectionate, loyal, and playful and would be good in a home with other dogs, children or alone. Apply to meet adorable Zane today!

Julius

How has this sweet boy not been adopted yet? Julius is a sweet, but timid, Lab mix. He had been living outside, with his pal, Tavi, until new caretakers found him and contacted us. He is very friendly but will need a patient family to help him build trust. He is enjoying living inside and having food in his belly. He loves to sit close to you and will make you the most loyal companion! He is wary of kids at first but does warm up. Older children would probably be a better fit for sweet Julius.

Tavi

Tavi is a gorgeous Treeing Walker Coonhound. Known to be a vocal breed, sweet Tavi definitely has plenty to say! This poor guy was also living outside until new caretakers contacted us to give him a new lease on life. He is learning the joys of living inside and having people to love. He will need patience but will reward you with plenty of return affection. Come meet Tavi today!

Chex

Chex is a 6-month-old STAR OF THE SHOW. He is a ham if we ever knew one. He vies for your complete attention and is always down to exchange affection. He has plenty of energy to play for hours and has a great desire to love you. Not knowing the meaning of shy in the littlest, Rex could easily be leash trained and make a great companion for unorthodox activities. He is house-trained and would be good in a home with other cats or alone.

Clawdeen

Meooow! My name is Clawdeen. I’m a young fashionable cat who enjoys talking. I look forward to having a loving home with lots of toys. I have a warm and generous heart and will be fiercely loyal to my human. I have faith I will be adopted into a wonderful home. Will it be yours?

Kermit

My name is Kermit, and I am the Robert Redford of Cat World. I love laps and head and cheek scratches. I also enjoy having my fur brushed. I can be entertaining but I also am entertained by watching people work. My jaw is degloved and the surgery didn’t work. All is good as I have no problems eating and drinking. My favorite thing about RSQ is that I am a favorite among the volunteers. Come meet me and see why!

Tessa

Meet Tessa! Her owner could not keep her. She is very friendly and she is good on a leash. Tessa knows the commands sit and down and she kennels easily. Tessa would love to find a furever home where she can find all the love and happiness she deserves. Make arrangements to meet her today!

Maddie

I am a very special little girl! I am sweet, calm, and loving, but I do have to admit, I am a tad shy. I’m not really shy by nature, I’m just a little unsure of my surroundings right now! I was a stray before I came to the shelter, and my time on my own has left me with some timidness about strange people and strange surroundings. I am quickly learning to shed this shyness and just be my normal, happy self! All of the people I have met so far have been great! They bring food, cozy warm beds, cat treats, and most importantly, love and attention! How could I be afraid of that? I know what would really help me come out of my shell, though….a loving home and family. If only someone would come to meet me, fall in love with me, and take me to my forever home, I know that would make me the happiest, most loving cat there ever was! I sure hope that someone comes soon!

Triton was born in May so he is considered a teenager at this point in his life. Come on into the PAWS Kitten Room and meet this great cat!

Bing and Chunk

Brothers Bing and Chunk were surrendered together and have rarely been apart since they were born 2 years ago and, although we would love for them to be adopted together, we think they’ll be fine separately.

Bing, named for his beautiful Bing Crosby eyes, is energetic, playful, and loves to chew (antlers and durable toys preferred). He also enjoys cuddling and giving kisses. Bing has some fear of riding in cars and freezes up and doesn’t want to get in. However, after just a few trips to the dog park with our fabulous volunteers, he’s already becoming more relaxed and has a great time once he gets there. Trips to other fun places should help him continue with his progress.

Chunk is a big softie who, as his name suggests, loves his food and very much looks forward to mealtime but he does fine eating with other dogs and has never shown any food aggression. He loves his snacks!

Both pups are good with other dogs, cats, and kids and will make a great addition to an active family. As puppies, Bing and Chunk may do better with older children who will make sure not to leave toys laying around. (Did we mention both do love to chew and will need supervision since they will swallow toys if allowed.) Both Bing and Chunk would benefit from some training as they can jump and be mouthy when excited and haven’t had much experience walking on a leash. They need a loving family with room to play and time to help socialize them.

Crimson and Clover

Born September 21st, these sweet puppy sisters are available as foster to adopt until spayed on January 17th at which time their adoption will be completed and either pup will be all yours. They display normal puppy behaviors so will need all of the normal training. As with all BAM dogs, their adoption fee includes vaccinations, spaying & a microchip!

Maui

At just a year and nine months, Sweet Maui is a wonderful boy who, unfortunately, was still too much puppy for his previous older doggie brothers.

Maui is neutered, housebroken, crate trained, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and knows basic commands … WOW!. He loves playing with other dogs and kids but jumps when he gets excited so may do better with older children.

Flynn is a four-year-old McNab (or Decker Hunter) Terrier/Border Collie mix. He’s been with his last person since he was a puppy and has been well-loved but his owner could no longer provide him with the care and attention he needs and sadly brought him to us.

Flynn gets along well with other dogs and is well-socialized with people (including children) but hasn’t yet been tested with cats. He loves a good game of tug or a puzzle feeder to encourage his curiosity.

Flynn

Flynn is a picky eater and guards his food. For some reason, he is afraid of delivery trucks and some men. Unfortunately, this breed sheds more than most so his new adopter will need to be prepared.

A quick Google search on this breed shows they are affectionate, inquisitive, loving, alert, lively, active, intelligent, fearless, and playful dogs who tend to have separation anxiety when their owners leave them alone at home because they bond very closely with them.

Quincy

Although she isn’t doing the full husky howl yet, baby Quincy is already very talkative and she has plenty of important things to say.

Born May 31st, she’s almost … but not quite … house trained. She loves water and would be so happy with an adopter who doesn’t mind snuggling a wet girl! She has fun with dogs of all sizes and even gets along with cats!

Quincy’s going to make a great family dog but her puppy teeth are razor sharp and she likes to bite so she should be fully supervised around kids. She needs lots of chew toys until those big-girl teeth come in.
