St. George Chamber Singers to Perform Brahms’ Requiem at Eccles Concert Hall with UT Chamber Choir
On March 28-29, 2025, under the leadership of Conductor and Artistic Director Paul Wiens, the St. George Chamber Singers will combine with the UT Chamber Choir for a stunning performance of Brahms Requiem!
Never having been performed in its entirety in Southern Utah, this will be a very unique opportunity for patrons to hear one of the most prominent choral works of the 19th century! It will be performed in its original German text, complete with a chamber orchestra of local musicians.
This concert is part of the St. George Chamber Singers’ 10th anniversary. They are honored to deliver this rare experience to Southern Utah and thank the community for its 10 years of support!
Brahms’ Requiem was somewhat unconventional for requiems in its time, focusing more on comfort and consolation for the living than on prayers for the dead. It is considered a unique masterpiece of technique and effect and was Brahms’ first work to bring him international fame.
