Pride of Southern Utah announced the theme, “Everyone Belongs,” for the third annual St. George LGBTQ pride festival, spanning a week of festivities.

“This year’s theme was chosen because in the current political and religious environment of perceived divisiveness, coupled with the high rate of suicide in our state, it is important to send out the message that everyone belongs, that you belong,” said Stephen Lambert, director of Pride of Southern Utah. “Each of us has value. Each of us is needed in this world. Everyone is an important part of the fabric of society.”

LGBTQ pride week kicks off Sept. 17 with an invitation-only party for sponsors and donors and continues with events planned each night of the week. Back by popular demand, a drag and burlesque show Sept. 21 will feature local performers, including the return of Tre’ Le’ Trach as the host. The week concludes with the featured pride festival event on Sept. 22 from 3 to 10 p.m. at Vernon Worthen Park in St. George.  Festivalgoers will enjoy live entertainment from start to finish. In addition, all age-appropriate activities including slack lines, face painting, drum circles, hair extensions, and more from 3 to 7 p.m. will be provided by Dixie LGBTQ Teen Alliance.

In keeping with the theme “Everyone Belongs,” organizers felt the importance of the festival being family friendly, creating an environment that is welcoming and fun for all of southern Utah. Whether or not you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies, we invite and welcome you.

Pride of Southern Utah is seeking volunteers and sponsors of all levels. Current sponsors of the festival include Cafe Soleil, Equality Utah, ARTS Inc., SUU Allies On Campus, Affogato West, The Falls Event Center, Festival Sounds, and Xtreme Graphix.
